Originally from Canada, Karmel Schreyer is one of Hong Kong's most accomplished children's authors. In addition to Empress Emi-poo, she has published two young adult novels Naomi: The Strawberry Blonde of Pippu Town and A Singing Bird Will Come: Naomi in Hong Kong, which chronicle the experiences of a typical ‘third culture’ teenager. When not writing young adult fiction, Karmel writes non-fiction for various publications in Asia, as well as educational materials for Asian children.
